Mon, May 31 - Dear Parents,
We are quickly approaching the end of the year and I am so pleased with the progress and growth all of the children have shown this year. You should be proud of all of their hard work.
Here are a few dates to remember: school mass Wednesday, June 9th 8:30 am, Talent Show for students June, 10th, Piano Recital for students June 17th, Fun Day June 18th. Please remember that June 21st and 22nd school dismisses at 11:30 and June 23rd the last day of school dismissal is at 10:30am.
The children will be learning about the letter Zz this week and will take their last Superkid’s assessment next week. We will also be doing a unit on mapping this week and next and hope to paint a map of our school to be displayed in our hallway. In math, we will continue to talk about subtraction sentences. You may have noticed that the children have also been learning about math fact families.(that is the house with the three numbers in the windows and door they brought home last week) In case you need a reminder fact families are: A set of facts, each of which relates the same three numbers through addition or subtraction. Examples: 3 + 4 = 7, 4 + 3 = 7, 7 - 4 = 3,7 - 3 = 4.
The children will also be harvesting our peas soon. We tried the radishes last week. There is one project we have left to complete this year. I need each child to bring in a small can about the size of Campbell’s Soup with the lid completely removed. Please send it into school by Monday, June 7th.
