Welcome to the St. Joseph Regional School Computer Lab's Home Page. My name is Mr. Michael Bellinger, and I am the school's K-8 Computer Teacher. Your children are about to embark on a technological journey in which they will learn basic computer skills, proper keyboarding skillls, word processing skills, spreadsheet skills, PowerPoint skills, and database skills (8th Grade).

All students will work hard as they develop their abilities to master these computer skills. All students will receive the appropriate support and guidance from me in order to ensure that ALL students are able to master these needed skillls. Upon completion of the K-8 programs, all students will gradute with a computer skill base that will last them a lifetime.

I look forward to working with and teaching each and every child who enters my classroom. If anyone has and questions or concerns, please feel to contact me at the school's number listed below at the bottom of this page.

Sincerely,

Michael T. Bellinger, CPA, M.A.Ed.

Announcements

Mon, Jun 21 - NOTE TO ALL PARENTS:

HAVE A FUN AND SAFE SUMMER EVERYONE AND I WILL SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR!!!

Computers and Operating Systems Used:

The school uses PCs with the Windows XP operating system. I understand that some of the school families have purchased Macs in the recent months. Macs are excellent machines. However, please be advised that any file created at home on a Mac cannot be used or printed out at school. PCs and Macs are not compatible.

Software Used:

The school uses all Microsoft products. The students are learning how to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. The use of these software applications at home will help them tremedously in the Computer Lab. The school does not have a copy of Corell's Word Perfect, so I cannot open up and print out any Word Perfect documents. Thank you.

Keyboard Covers:

All keyboards are covered in the Computer Lab. All students are required to use the keyboards with the covers over the keys. There are reference charts available for any student who needs one. The overall purpose and goal of using the covers are to teach the students to type without looking at the keys. These keyboard covers and reference charts are avaiable at www.speedskin.com. (See the link below.) All parents are urged to acquired a cover and reference chart for the home computer so that the students can practice their keyboarding skills at home.

Flashdrives:

The 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will be creating slide show presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint and will be encouraged to obtain a flashdrive. These presentations' files are too big for a floppy disk and not all of the computers have CD burners. The easiest manner in which the students can save and use their presentations is to save them on a flashdrive. Although having a flashdrive is not a requirement, I am encouraging their use. Occasionally, a computer will crash or a hard drive will fail or another student may accidentally delete or copy over another student's saved file. Having thiese files backed up on a flashdrive can preserve hours of hard work and mitigate moments of stress and anxiety. Please consider acquiriing one for your 6th, 7th and/or 8th graders.
Thank you.

Well everone, this will be your class computer class of the year and at St. Joe's. I have been teaching most of you ladies and gentlemen computer classes since the 2nd Grade. You boys and girls have been one of my favorite classes to teach. You are all a great bunch of kids. It seems like only yesterday when you boys and girls were a bunch of tiny little 2nd Graders. I will certainly miss you all. Good luck in high school and God bless!
